National Union of Clerical, Commercial, Professional and Technical Employees (Registered as No.TU.10), generally known as NUCCPTE,
is a strong industrial/labour union that organises workers to fight and defend workers’ rights at workplaces.
NUCCPTE represents the interests of workers in all financial institutions (Banks, Insurance Companies, Social Insurance),
Commercial Shops, Motor Garages, Manufacturing Industries and Professionals.
Founded and registered in 1952 as “General Union of Clerical and Commercial Workers”,
it changed its name in 1990 to its current name.
NUCCPTE is proudly one of the 34 unions affiliated to NOTU (National Organisation of Trade Unions – Uganda)
and also affiliated to IndustriALL Global Union, an international federation.
NUCCPTE was founded in 1952 by visionary leaders under the original name “General Union of Clerical and Commercial Workers”.
Bro. M.K. Mukasa served as the third General Secretary from 1975 until 2024 — the longest-serving leader in NUCCPTE’s history.
To inrease membership and create unity among workers inorder to strenthen their social justice, equality & fraternity .
To prevent workers from exploitatiion by their employers and encourage creation of decent work at all work places.
